It’s been forever! Drawing has taken a backseat to textiles as I continue in my master’s degree in textile design. But pears are never far from my mind! Here is a pear I knit with wire for a class last spring:
Here’s something a bit different from the usual comics I post. I drew this pear with pen and watercolor, and then became obsessed (hard to believe of someone who has been drawing pears for 4 years, I know) with trying different color combinations. These are my favorites:
I recently started a shop on Society6, and this comic/illustration is available as a print or a t-shirt either with or without the caption. They even have baby onesies (which I think are a really cute). I kept seeing artists I admire that I have stuff on Society6, so I decided to try it.
Thank you for participating in the Facebook / Twitter contest. I really appreciate all of your comments, and I honestly wish I could give everyone a comic or calendar. But that would be too expensive. So chosen at random, here are the two winners:
I just finished working on a calendar for 2014! I hope not everyone already has a calendar for next year. I’m hoping that there are a least some people, who like me, are not organized or ready to get calendars in December.
This “Pears of the World” calendar has a different pear type for each month and a short write-up to along with it. It measures 5.5″ x 8″ and is printed on heavy card stock. It’s available in my Etsy shop. You can read all the descriptions of the pear types for each month are there too.
I started this project pretty late in the year, but I got so involved with researching different kinds of pears that it went pretty quickly. I had so much fun looking at different pears (there are so many sweet sweet varieties) and imagining their pearsonalities!
I’m including the binder clip, so it can be hung on wall:
