This one is one of my favorites, because she’s so angry! I made a second watercolor version too. She’s also the month of May in the 2014 Pears of the World Calendar (which is also on sale for nearly 50% off). The thing about this calendar is that you can cut the calendar stuff at the bottom off and have prints after the months are finished!
It’s been four years since I started drawing pears! Things have come a long way since then (certainly in my ability to draw). I joined Etsy where I combined by love of knitting and crafting with my love of pears. I’ve also gotten to meet so many great people through the website and craft fairs. And most importantly, I’ve been able to vent all of my daily grievances through Angry Pear (as opposed to ONLY complaining to friends and family).
I want to thank you all for following these comics– it really means a lot to me.
For my own birthday, I wish I could have a cupcake that is as proportionally large to me as this cupcake is to the pears.
I used to sell these little birthday pears in my Etsy shop, but I’ve sold out and haven’t had a chance to make more. If you’re interested in them though, just send me a note!
My rabbit Beatrice and I will be doing a photo shoot later today (as is our Easter custom). If the pictures turn out well, I might post them here. In the meantime, here’s some picture’s from last year’s shoot!
Two posts in one day… sheesh. But I just took these pictures this afternoon, and I wanted to post them! The little polymer pear is sitting in a very spring-like arrangement of Sedum, Eyelash Begonia, and Pilea. The other plants are a struggling Shamrock and Maidenhair Fern.
I also wanted to let you all know that I’ll be participating in a vernissage / gallery exhibit / art show this Friday in Montreal. The evening will feature local artists from the H4C postal code (St. Henri neighborhood). I already know that there’s going to be a TON of different artists showing work at the event, so I suspect this is going to be a lot of fun!
If you’re in Montreal, please stop by, the address is:
Although when I originally started Angry Pear I was very adamant about NEVER drawing anything but pears, I have since decided that some things (irritations and annoyances mostly) just can’t be expressed with pears. Or, I guess I should say, they cannot be expressed clearly enough with pears. So I have decided to occasionally post a comic or drawing that isn’t a pear.
A few months ago, Esther, a very nice woman in Europe (probably the Netherlands given the Dutch description), contacted me about doing this custom drawing (a doctor pear tending to a sick blueberry). She wanted to give the picture to her friend as a gift for finishing medical school. I LOVED the project because their nicknames for each other are pear and blueberry– very cute! Esther ended up putting the image on a bag for her friend, and I think it looks amazing!
I am always interested in making custom drawings / prints. If you’re interested, you can contact me through Etsy or email me at drew[at]angriestpear[dot]com.
The Abbe Fetel or Abate Fetale was in the news earlier this month when Italian growers brought this pear to the States for a showing. This is also the pear I chose to make the month of April in the pear calendar.
I wasn’t going to post anything today, but then I took these pictures and decided I wanted to share them. These are the NEW versions of the knit pears (coming soon to my Etsy shop). They’re a little smaller, but I think I like them better.
I’ll be selling Angry Pear comics and other things from my etsy shop tomorrow at the Market Cooperative. This is my second time at this craft fair, and if last time is any indication, there’s going to be TONS of amazing artisans there.
In addition to comics, I’ve made a few St. Valentine themed owls just for the fair:
(the little hearts are felted pins, which I might sell too).

And if cutesy Valentine’s aren’t your thing, there’s always this very Angry Pear card:
Thank you for participating in the Facebook / Twitter contest. I really appreciate all of your comments, and I honestly wish I could give everyone a comic or calendar. But that would be too expensive. So chosen at random, here are the two winners:
Just like or follow Angry Pear on Facebook or Twitter (if you have done so already, then of course you can enter), then comment on the contest post. It’s very important that you comment on the contest post to enter the contest.
All you have to do is “like” or “follow” Angry Pear on Facebook OR Twitter and comment here why you like Angry Pear or which prize you would like. If you’ve already liked or followed Angry Pear (thank you!), just comment here anyway. The contest is open to anyone in the world.
By the end of the day next Sunday (January 26), I’ll pick two winners at random from the comments below.
Let’s take another look at the pearific prizes you can win!
The Pears of the World calendar features 12 different types of pears, along with a description for each month. I had a lot of fun putting this together.
New comics from 2013 include Pearishables, Pears of History, Myth and Legend, and Work-a-Day Pear. I also have few copies left of comics from past years.
Good luck everyone! Here are the Facebook and Twitter links again!
